Leaders of Impact: A Heart Survivor’s Story and Call to Action

A Second Chance at Life

My life stopped the day I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to immediate action, expert care, and what I believe was divine intervention, I survived. That experience gave me more than just time; it gave me a mission.

Every heartbeat matters. Every day is a gift. And my mission is to use my second chance to help others live longer, healthier lives while inspiring people to Be the World’s Best version of themselves.

Selected as a Leader of Impact

That is why it was such an honor to be selected by the American Heart Association as a Leader of Impact. This program recognizes individuals who are using their voices, networks, and platforms to create real change in the fight against heart disease and stroke.

Leaders of Impact is not just about raising funds. It is about educating communities, advocating for health, and building a culture where heart health is a priority. It connects my personal story of survival to a broader movement that is saving lives every day.

The reality is sobering:

  • 2,300 Americans die every day from cardiovascular disease
  • 12 million+ U.S. adults live with some form of heart disease
  • 50 million people face higher risk because they lack access to basic needs like healthy food, safe housing, or clean water

And yet there is hope. Since 1968, we have seen a 71% reduction in cardiovascular disease deaths, proving that awareness, research, and prevention save lives.

Building a Culture of Changemakers

Being named a Leader of Impact allows me to invite others to join in this mission. Together, we can create healthier tomorrows where families share graduations, weddings, and birthdays instead of just memories of loved ones gone too soon.

Why Heart Health Matters for Everyone

When people rally around heart health, they help fuel:

  • Innovative research that leads to breakthroughs in heart and brain health
  • Education programs that prevent heart disease and stroke
  • Equitable health initiatives that ensure access to care for everyone

The fight against cardiovascular disease is not limited to numbers. It is about people, families, and futures.

My Personal Why

I should not be here today. But I am. That means my mission is not finished. I was given a second chance to make an impact, and being chosen as a Leader of Impact gives me the platform to help others live theirs.

Will you join me in making heart health a priority? Together, we can fight heart disease, save lives, and give more people the chance to live their healthiest future.
